Vince Coakley hosts a daily radio show on News/Talk 1110 WBT (99.3 FM) in Charlotte. This is a secular radio station with a wide audience. To me, Vince embodies the values of Ten Foot World, in that he takes his faith unappologeticly to his own ten-foot world. That world happens to include a microphone and thousands of listeners.
I had the privilage of being a guest on his show to talk about my new book, Ten Foot World, during a segment he calls "Friday Faith Focus at Five". I'll let you figure out when this takes place and what he talks about. Thanks Vince for all you do. Keep up the great work.

Sound the Claxon
In Wayne Detzler's very nice forward to my book, Ten Foot World, he states that I sound "a Claxon call to awaken us from our slumber". That's a good way to put it. However, I have to admit I had to google the definition of a claxon. For your information it is a loud annoying electric bell used for sending a warning signal. I think he just called my work annoying.
Perhaps it is - to the extent that any call to action is annoying when you're trying to sleep. But more than that, I pray that the reader hears my heart.
As a foreign missionary for over ten years, I have to say that I feel more burdened for the Church in the US than I do for the church in many of the countries I have served in. The reason is because the church over there is growing. The church in my own country is in decline by any measurable means..

Plans for an electronic version of Ten Foot World are under way. As soon as the final editis to the hard copy are complete, Ten Foot World will be reformatted for the Kindle Reader - making this book available for all Kindle products plus the iPad and iPhone. Stay tuned!
It's (almost) Published
After deliberating about how to come up with initial publication costs, Eric, a good friend of mine, recommended that I try self publishing. Taking his advice 3 months ago was a good move. It proved to be the final major obstacle in publishing this book on a shoestring budget.
Currently, I have a team of editors(volunteers) working hard on the final edits. Dr. Wayne Detzler, (Author and Professor of Cross-Cultural Apologetics and Missions at Southern Evangelical Seminary) was kind enough to write a very nice Forward to the book with an enthusiastic recommendation. Thank you, again, Dr. Detzler.
Thanks to so many people along the way, I am grateful to report that this book is very close to being published. I was hoping to have it by Christmas, then New Years, then mid January. Realistically, it will most likely be sometime in February. Thanks again to everybody who has helped make this project a reality.

Groups / Forum is now on-line
One of the primary purposes for writing and publishing this book was to engage the Christian community on issues of cultural influence. The Ten Foot World forum is now online in order to help make that happen. At the end of each chapter, readers are encouraged to visit the forum to engage in topics related to that chapter. Forums take place by way of individual groups, either public or private. Any registered member can build a group and invite as many participants as they choose. Participation can be by Approval, by Invite or Open to anyone.
